Survival Mode: Theʻalalā’s return to Hawaiʻi’s forests

A rare species of crow, ʻalalā is only found in Hawaiʻi and is the largest surviving endemic Hawaiian forest bird. The very last pair of ʻalalā disappeared from Hawaiʻi Island’s South Kona district in 2002, but with the help of a captive breeding program and the ʻAlalā Project partners, five young ʻalalā were released in the remote Kīpahulu Forest Reserve and they’re beating the odd!
